MASTERCLASS WITH ELIAS AGUIRRE
"MOVING PAUSE"

Understanding the body as a wetland, an ecosystem that harbors a wide biodiversity of movement. Exploring sensations and imaginaries born from the rush to imbalance. Inhabiting and experiencing an amphibious torso, a flying insect hand, an aquatic consciousness… It is in these moments that the unpredictable emerges, when we encounter the invisible nature, that which goes unnoticed, where not even silence is still.

Thursday, November 27, 2025
Time: from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Location: Sbelta Dance Academy, Cáceres
Video Masterclass: https://vimeo.com/1007369053

OBJECTIVES PURSUED IN THIS WORKSHOP:
- To work on techniques related to the discipline of contemporary dance.
- Work on body-to-body contact and improve physical relationships using tools from contact improvisation.
- Improve strength, coordination, and self-confidence.
- Increase awareness of physical space and improve the relationship with it through different proposals related to contemporary dance in which different levels, trajectories, directions, projections, etc. are used.
- To raise awareness of the importance of time in relation to movement and the richness of a certain unpredictability in actions. This will be achieved using resources related to slow, fast, and sustained actions; as well as bursts, suspensions, and fluid and staccato movements.
- To raise awareness of the importance of the pause as a scenic resource through tools related to improvisation techniques and both contemporary dance and urban dance.
- To raise awareness of the importance of creativity and the ability to improvise in any artistic discipline and to promote them through resources related to dance and physical theatre.
- To acquire a dynamic of working with the body through sensations, connecting more effectively with emotions or with stage characters.
- To use inspiration from "invisible nature" as a tool for the physical experimentation of the body in all its possibilities and in the use of its entire anatomical structure with full awareness.
- Increase body awareness in space and prioritize the use of different anatomical structures (muscular, bone, joint) to achieve expressive effects in movement thanks to urban dance tools: strowing, popping, waving.
- Improve body agility, as well as coordination, strength and muscle elasticity with contemporary dance proposals: entrances and exits from the floor and displacements at different spatial levels.
- Incorporate body percussion exercises to enrich the body's coordination and musicality work.
The techniques used to address the described content will range from the most directive to the most creative, with increasing student autonomy. Improvisation will play an important role in the search for a personal language and in exploring individual abilities and limitations. Students will be organized according to the needs of each topic: individual work, pair work, small group work, etc. In these cases, decision-making and listening skills also play a significant role.

Both the methodology and the course content are adaptable to the needs of the group.
