SYNOPSIS
“Macbeth”
"I have almost forgotten the taste of fear. Life is but a passing shadow; a poor player who proudly consumes his turn on the stage, never to be heard again. It is a tale told by a fool, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
The encounter between Teatro del Norte and Shakespeare was inevitable and had to happen sooner or later. And it has finally arrived.
Teatro del Norte, with 38 years of experience as a theater group, presents its first Shakespeare production: “Macbeth” in 2023. This production will offer a reading of “Macbeth” from the perspective of Lady Macbeth, a woman who yearns for power, who seeks it, who possesses masculine characteristics, in contrast to a husband dominated by fear, weakness, and his feminine traits.
Lady Macbeth's reading of Shakespeare's Macbeth will show us different, and perhaps hidden, aspects of the original "Macbeth".
The search for the hidden is our challenge, both in directing and acting. A cowardly Macbeth completely dominated by his wife, a world where the protagonist is not the man (the male) but the woman.
