SYNOPSIS
"The Bald Soprano" is perhaps the seminal work of the so-called Theatre of the Absurd. The play offers a critique of everyday life, in which the characters are incapable of communicating with one another.
A hilarious phonetic poem that plays with the illusion of communication, in an attempt to cross the limits of reality to pose unsettling questions to the viewer.
Ionesco, starting from the everyday conversations of the Assimil method of teaching English, satirizes the banality of conventional human relationships.
It has been said that his theatre is a selective exaggeration of reality, with the idea of showing the ridiculousness of some aspects, and The Bald Soprano is the clearest example.
