SYNOPSIS. A dramatic work set in a country marked by dictatorship and inspired by the social, political, and economic conflict in Venezuela. “En ramo verde” (In a Green Branch) addresses a very current theme: the enduring fanaticism and fear promoted by those in power. Based on the real events of Venezuelans fighting against the regime, they risk the rights of others, their own safety, and the freedom of expression that every individual possesses. Loyalty, betrayal, death, truth, and fiction intertwine through the interwoven stories of four characters: two colleagues and a married couple—a political leader and his wife. Together and separately, they seek answers, even in a surreal setting. Love is the driving force that ultimately provides answers to the many questions that will intertwine and be revealed throughout the play.
